Stress: The Ticking Time Bomb

April 14, 2005

A time bomb is something that threatens to have an abruptly disastrous outcome in the future. Stress overload is a ticking time bomb in the USA and around the world. Over time, chronic stress explodes into making people literally sick with a wide range of “dis-eases,” including ulcers, colitis, heart disease and more. In fact, stress may be the single biggest contributor to illness in the modern world. Doing EFT regularly is one of the best ways to disarm stress and stop the clock.

I do a lot of work teaching executives, business owners and their employees how to use EFT to manage and relieve their stress. Stress overload is a major profit killer in businesses today. One of the things that often comes up with business leaders is they’re afraid that if they “give up” their stress, they’ll lose their drive. What they discover is the opposite. They end up having less internal tension and more focused energy.

Grant Thornton, a leading global accounting, tax and business advisory firm, recently published their Grant Thornton 2005 International Business Owners Survey. One of the key findings of the survey was that business owners all over the world are feeling much more stressed than a year ago. The top 10 drivers for stress overload are the following:

  1. Increased competition
  2. Economic environment
  3. More demanding customer expectations
  4. Cash flow/pressure on profit margins
  5. Regulation/red tape
  6. Not enough time with family/friends
  7. Shortage of leisure time
  8. Keeping up with technical developments
  9. Change in audit requirements
  10. High volume of e-mail

The places where business owners indicated the most increase in stress levels were:

  1. Taiwan
  2. Russia
  3. Philippines
  4. India
  5. Hong Kong
  6. Japan
  7. Singapore
  8. Turkey
  9. Mexico
  10. South Africa

Stress lives everywhere. It’s an international epidemic. In a fast changing world, stress isn’t going away. People are exposed more frequently to constant or chronic stress. Our bodies don’t have enough time to reverse the damaging effects, ultimately manifesting in mental and physical illnesses.

The solution is to find tools and techniques for releasing stress. I highly recommend learning EFT as a powerful and positive way. You can learn it quickly. Read Learning the ABCs of EFT. The method is something you can do whenever and wherever you need to. Another good idea is to contact an EFT practitioner that specializes in “Stress & Anxiety.”

Yesterday, I happened to run in to a friend of mine who is a business owner. He’s had a couple of traumatic, very stressful events in his business this year. Now, it’s showing up in his body in a complex number of ways such as pain, numbness, stiffness and low energy. What many people don’t realize about stress is that if you don’t disarm it, stress stays in your body and builds up like a time bomb, a quiet killer. Take action to release your stress. Time is ticking away.
