Life is as Easy as 1-2-3
March 9, 2006
Life is hard. Life is unfair. Life is a b****. Do you ever feel this way? Do you believe that life is or has to be hard or difficult? I like what author, Sidney J. Harris had to say. He said that when he heard somebody sigh that life was hard, he was tempted to ask, “Compared to what?” In America, we have a lot of cultural beliefs about life and work. Here are some cliches that reflect beliefs which are often passed down:
- A hard row to hoe
- A hard day’s night
- All in a hard day’s work
- Life’s a long, hard climb
- Fallen on hard times
- Idle hands are the devil’s workshop
- Work your fingers to the bone
- Take the easy way out
If you hold any beliefs that life is hard, what if you went about changing your beliefs? What if you believed that you were in tune with and flowed along with life? What if you changed any beliefs that life was hard to believing that life is as “easy as pie” or “easy as 1-2-3 or ABC?” How differently might you feel and act? What thoughts or beliefs pop up for you at the very mention that life could or should be easy? Read this post from Maryam Webster’s blog, Sage Wisdom. Maryam said that she used to believe that life was really hard. Now Maryam says, “I passionately believe that life is easy, and the universe is friendly and helpful.”
Don’t want to buy into any of this “life is easy” stuff? That’s fine. We always have a choice, don’t we?
