In a blog post titled, Happiometricians, published a few years ago, I said that I’d found a great way to get an energy buzz by tapping on the EFT points while saying, “I release any ways that I’m feeling unhappy. I choose happiness right here, right now.” Although we may not all agree on what happiness is, we’re pretty sure what it isn’t. One way to be more happy is to let go of the junk that makes us feel unhappy.

That’s the premise of a new book out by Grant Connolly. The title of the book is Allowing Happiness on Cue: A Simple, Powerful Way to Gently Let Go of Feelings and Limiting Beliefs that Block True Peace of Mind and Happiness. It’s available from Amazon in the USA, Canada, the UK, France and Germany in the English language edition, plus there are Kindle and Nook editions if you have an electronic reader.

The book introduces you to the ZPoint Process, a healing technique that you can learn in minutes to feel increasingly peaceful, relaxed and emotionally balanced. The ZPoint Process uses a cue word to employ the power of our subconscious mind to change the things that contribute to any feelings of unhappiness.

What if you could feel happier and transform your life by clearing away the things that make you feel unhappy, allowing your happiness to shine through? What if there was a process for this that you could learn quickly and easily? What if you didn’t have to do much because it worked automatically, ingeniously whenever you gave it a cue? That’s what you’ll learn in Grant’s book. And it’s more than a book. It’s a book with recordings because you also get access to free download recordings to guide you through the process step-by-step.

Grant Connolly wasn’t always so happy. He had a very unhappy childhood, got bullied, dropped out of high school, and felt like a failure for many years. No more. Today, his life is rich, full and deeply satisfying. In short, he’s having the best time of his life. After going back to school in his early thirties to study technology—computers and communications—he followed his passion and worked with computers for a number of years. Fascinated with how the subconscious mind works, Grant became a certified hypnotist.

Using his greatest abilities—following his intuition and synthesizing everything he’s learned—he developed the ZPoint Process to transform his life by clearing away all the things that made him feel unhappy. He says that when we clear all of the things that we are not, underneath we’ll find the person we’ve always wanted to be.

Allowing Happiness on Cue is a gem of a little book. It’ll help you learn a process that can help you uncover the happiness that’s already there!

With classic EFT, at the end of our setup statement we say, “I deeply and completely accept myself.” This reassuring phrase removes any conflicts. It’s integrative, uniting all parts of ourselves consciously and unconsciously. One of the things I hear from people who are new to EFT is that it doesn’t seem to work for them. Although they try and try EFT, they don’t get any results. Are they using Willpower?

Perhaps we can learn a lot from the works of Émile Coué, a French psychologist and pharmacist who developed “optimistic autosuggestion.” Basically he said that the greater effort you make to resolve an issue, the more it returns. The more you exert your willpower and try, the more your imagination replies that you can’t.

He says that contrary to what we might believe, when the Imagination and the Will are in conflict, the Imagination invariably wins.

Three Key Ideas of Émile Coué

Every idea which exclusively occupies the mind is transformed into an actual physical or mental state.

The efforts we make to conquer an idea by exerting the Will only serve to make that idea more powerful.

You must put your trust in the Imagination, not in the Will. Think you are better and you will become so.

He said to create a positive change in our mental or physical being, we must consciously suggest to our unconscious mind. He used repetitions of verbal messages as a means of changing behavior and called them “Autosuggestions.” Perhaps his most famous autosuggestion is:

“Every day, in every respect, I am getting better and better.” Coué emphasized saying the words, “in every respect” because it played to every need whether mental or physical. [Note: It's often translated as, "Every day in every way, I'm getting better and better."]

Émile Coué said that in order to understand properly the part played by suggestion, or rather by autosuggestion, we need to know that that the unconscious self is the grand director of all our functions. The unconscious is that powerhouse that provides energy for conscious thought and action and for the performance of the vital processes of the body. The unconscious is the supervisor over our physical processes. Digestion, assimilation, the circulation of the blood, the action of the loans, the kidneys and all the vital organs are controlled by it, not the conscious mind.

What’s important in autosuggestion is — no idea presented to the mind can realize itself unless the mind accepts it. The basic law of autosuggestion is:

Every idea from the conscious mind, if it is accepted by the unconscious, is transformed by it into a reality.

When we gently and in a relaxed manner, instead of forcefully, fill our conscious minds with ideas of health, joy, goodness, efficiency, and can ensure their acceptance by the unconscious, these ideas become new realities. That’s why it’s important not to exert effort when making an autosuggestion because it takes us out of a relaxed state and suppresses the tide of the unconscious. Also it creates a conflict. Autosuggestion succeeds by avoiding conflict.

Coué said that we possess within us a force of an incalculable power when directed in a conscious and wise manner gives us a mastery of ourselves, releasing physical and mental ills so we can live in relative happiness.

Here are some of his thoughts:

Autosuggestion is an instrument which you learn how to use just like any other instrument.

Never lose sight of the great principle of autosuggestion: optimism always and in spite of everything, even when it doesn’t seem to be justified.

Suggestion sustained by faith is a formidable force.

Do not spend your time and thinking of illnesses you might have, for if you have no real ones you will create artificial ones.

When you make a conscious autosuggestion, do it naturally, simply, with conviction, and above all without any effort.

The Imagination, not the Will, is our most important faculty. It’s a serious mistake to advise people to train their Wills. Training their Imaginations is paramount.

By believing oneself to be the master of one’s thoughts, one becomes so. Each of our thoughts, good or bad, become concrete, materialize, and become a reality.

We are what we make ourselves, not what circumstances make us.

Always think what you have to do is easy and possible.

Contrary to popular opinion, physical diseases are generally far more easily cured than mental ones.

Émile Coué recommended formulating autosuggestions that included these three elements: (1) Immediate relief. (2) Rapid progress. (3) Complete and permanent cure.

As an experiment, let’s take the autosuggestion teachings of Émile Coué and combine them with EFT and tapping. Do this. Take some time to be by yourself.

Close your eyes. Be calm and relaxed. Get in a drowsy state.

In a monotonous tone of voice, tap on the various EFT points while saying any of the autosuggestions that follow. Feel free to modify theme to suit your needs:

General

From today onward, I shall become more and more conscious of all that is happy, positive and cheerful.
All the troubles which used to perplex me will have vanished and never return.
The thoughts that enter my mind are strong and healthful ones.
My life is growing smoother, easier, and brighter.

Trouble Sleeping

Every night I will fall asleep when I want and continue to sleep until the time I choose to wake up on the morning. My sleep shall be calm, deep and peaceful. On waking I’ll feel well, right, alert, eager for the day’s tasks.

Depression, Feeling Down

Instead of being moody, anxious and depressed, I choose to feel cheerful and happy. I prefer to be happy even if I have no particular reason for being so, just as in the past I was feeling unhappy for whatever reasons. From today onward, I shall become more and more conscious of all that is happy, positive and cheerful.

Physical Pain

[Note: Touch that part of your body in pain with one hand. Tap on the EFT points with the other and say -- ] I know my pain is going away. It’s going, going, going, gone. [Note: Repeat the words "going, going, going" as fast as you can, producing a continuous stream of sound. Keep it up for about a minute, pausing only to take a deep breath when necessary. Say the word, "Gone," at the conclusion.]

Feeling Impatient or Angry

I no longer feel anything of the kind. On the contrary, I feel more patient and in control. The things that used to irritate me leave me entirely.

Fears or Phobias

Any fears or anxieties I had cease to occupy my mind. They melt away like a cloud. As a dream vanishes when we awake, so do any fears or anxieties I had.

Lacking Confidence

Any lack of confidence or self distrust I had is gradually disappearing. I have confidence in myself. I enjoy feeling confident. I have immense power within me. The thoughts which enter my mind are strong and positive ones. My confidence manifests in greater strength each and every day.

Getting Things Done

I erase such words as “difficult,” ” impossible,” or “I cannot” from my vocabulary. I replace them with this phrase: “It’s easy and I can.” Even though it may be difficult for others, it comes easy to me. I do things easily, without effort and without fatigue.

If you’d like to learn more about “autosuggestion,” you can download an ebook for Kindle, Nook or iBook editions for free. Go to Project Gutenberg and search in authors for Émile Coué, or the title Self Mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion.

Let’s quit nagging smokers to quit smoking. Let’s stop all of the shocking, fearful public service announcement scare tactics. They don’t work because they don’t address the most important element. Yes, intellectually people know smoking is “bad” for them. It’ just that they love to smoke. A smoker might say, “smoking gives me pleasure, helps me relax, helps me think, or makes me feel that I’m not alone.”

If you ask most smokers, they’ll tell you that they’d like to quit. Many have even tried. In fact, according to the US Food and Drug Administration, 70% of smokers want to quit, and more than 84% of them are unsuccessful in their attempts. So what’s the issue? It’s simply that smoking does something positive for them and helps make them feel good. Instead of suppressing the real reasons behind why people smoke, let’s bring them to the forefront. Use EFT to release feelings at the core of why smokers smoke.

By the way, keep in mind that cigarette smoking may be frowned upon today, yet not long ago smoking was culturally in vogue. In fact, look at most of the old black and white movies and most of the actors and actresses smoked. So did doctors. Check out this video.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCMzjJjuxQI

If you smoke and really want to stop, EFT can help. EFT practitioner, Aileen Nobles, has an excellent video that really gets at core issues of why someone smokes. Notice how she alternates between tapping on opposites (love smoking and want to quit). She integrates opposites and provides new choices.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEFR73uL0eI

Another video you may want to watch is from Magnus. He teaches you the classic EFT method.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVyEr1W_XPs

The main reason that EFT can be so effective in helping smokers who really want to quit smoking is that EFT doesn’t deny the reasons smokers smoke and the “benefits” they get from doing it. EFT releases any negative or unwanted feelings connected to smoking.

There are a lot of simple, wonderful and powerful methods for people to enjoy a more stress free life. Another fine method that’s different than EFT is HeartMath. The founder of HeartMath, Doc Childre, has done extensive research on how the heart and the brain communicate with each other. As in EFT, your emotions play a vital role in your physical well-being. Physiologically, your heart displays a lot of what you’re feeling, and these emotions are reflected in your heart rhythm patterns. HeartMath is about syncing your heart and mind to enjoy a higher quality of life.

If you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher or someone concerned about how children are under too much stress, you may want to register for a free webinar coming up on Saturday, March 5th. Our children are under more stress today than ever. The world seems to move at a dizzying pace. Along with family, academic and peer pressures, children are subjected to a constant buzz and barrage of an endless array of devices and diversions in the digital, cell phone and computer age.

The countless distractions of the modern world are taking a toll on millions of children. A very simple and important example is the decline in traditional, healthy playtime, often beginning at a very early age. Combine all of the distractions with an increasingly competitive global economy that has children growing up sooner so they can get ahead faster, and it is clear the mental and emotional strains being placed on today’s youth have reached dangerous and unacceptable levels.

Learning practical strategies and techniques for lowering stress among children and helping them build resilience for the future is a vital tool for those who care for and care about children. Join behavioral and developmental pediatrician Dr. Timothy Culbert, and facilitator Jeff Goelitz, an education specialist with the Institute of HeartMath, for the Helping Children Manage Stress webinar. They will discuss these and other concerns and offer strategies parents, educators and other care providers can employ to help today’s youth live happier and more stress-free childhoods.

FREE Webinar “Helping Children Manage Stress

Sign up for the Helping Children Manage Stress webinar that takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. PST, Saturday, March 5.

As you may have noticed, when Robert uses his style of FasterEFT, he only taps on certain points, plus he uses NLP and other methods. Did you see how he “tests” to really check to see if there’s really been a change?

Robert is captivating to watch. He has such a natural way of teaching and doing. He has an energy that engages, enlightens and entertains.

For me, where he stands out from any EFT practitioner I’ve ever seen is his wonderful, playful sense of humor. Robert uses it to disarm, engage and reframe in masterful ways. Even when it comes to serious topics, he intuitively and effortlessly finds the joyful twist. He is superb in knowing how to lighten and liven things up.

Robert Smith lives in Oklahoma. No doubt, he would resonate with the opening lines to the song from that famous musical, Oklahoma:

“There’s never been a better time to start in life. It ain’t too early and it ain’t too late!”

I highly recommend viewing and learning from Robert at his YouTube site, Healing Magic. Also, visit his FasterEFT Website. You’ll discover why Robert G. Smith is a master of using EFT and other healing modalities to help people change their lives, to “zoom and bloom.”

One of my first experiences learning EFT was viewing Gary Craig’s “Six Days at the VA.” Back then it was on videotape. Gary and Adrienne Fowlie were invited by the U.S. Veterans’ Administration in Los Angeles to work with veterans. Many of these vets had been in therapy for decades, yet still suffered from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). With EFT, now the veterans were getting some relief.

With such positive results, naturally I thought the Veterans Administration, therapists and families would flock to embrace EFT. Not so. From my experience, many people don’t believe something so simple as tapping on acupuncture points can be very effective. Their beliefs block their direct experience. Typically, they dismiss EFT without ever trying it. That’s about to change because of a new film being released this month called “Operation: Emotional Freedom.”

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA_5T7X0e6k

I’ve been awaiting the release of this feature length film since I saw Gary’s 20 minute film clip in 2008, “EFT for War Veterans.” Eric Huurre is the producer and director of the film. According to Eric, Gary asked for just one thing, ”provide the audience with irrefutable evidence of what we can do with this technique.” The film does just that.

If you are a veteran, family member, friend or someone who cares about vets, I urge you to buy the DVD, watch it, and show it to others. The Special Edition DVD which is available now includes an exclusive interview with Gary Craig. Starting on June 12th, you’ll also have the option to “pay per view.” For little more than the price of a greeting card with postage, you’ll be able to send a viewing as a gift to someone you know who might benefit. You can find out more about the DVD and PPV here. Lastly, visit the Operation: Emotional Freedom website and subscribe to Eric’s newsletter.

Yes, Gary Craig is now retired. Over the years, he has been steadfast in showing his compassion for veterans. Let me close using Eric Huurre’s words about Gary Craig:

“You leave all of us better for what you brought to light.”

Gary Craig’s website, emofree.com, which as been the prime source of EFT information over the years will be discontinued on June 5th. The good news is that much of the information on the site, including the large collection of EFT articles is moving to Dawson Church’s new site, EFTuniverse.com. Dawson is the person responsible for the growing body of EFT research and his company, Energy Psychology Press, publishes several books on EFT.

Dawson will also be publishing a weekly EFT newsletter. You can subscribe to it on his website. Please be patient because EFTuniverse.com will be getting a lot of Internet traffic in the next few days so it may be temporarily unavailable.

Unfortunately, there will be no more sales of Gary Craig’s DVDs. If you don’t have the DVDs from his library, there are over 100,000 people worldwide who purchased them. Each of these customers may duplicate the DVDs up to 100 times to give away. They can’t sell them. You may also be able to borrow or rent them.

The EFT Forums and Discussion Groups are moving to EFTMastersWorldwide.com/forums. In addition, Dawson Church is also setting up EFT discussion groups that will be housed on EFTuniverse.com.

Many thanks to Gary Craig for continuing to share this valuable EFT information. Gary has been very sincere and generous in sharing EFT worldwide over the past 15 years. May he thoroughly enjoy his retirement.

One of my daughter’s friends works as an assistant at a veterinary clinic. A couple of days ago, after the vet had operated on a Pomeranian, the dog woke up, became frightened and promptly chomped down on her friend’s thumb and hand. The pain was excruciating and the dog locked on with his bite so strongly that the vet and another assistant had to pry the dog’s jaw open. That evening when I saw my daughter’s friend, her hand was feeling somewhat better and we decided to do EFT to release the trauma of the event and possibly the pain.

Normally, one of the things that doesn’t get addressed is “everyday” traumas that people experience. Getting bitten by a dog is a trauma, yet most people don’t go to see a therapist for it, and those feelings, fears and stresses stay locked up in our minds and bodies. EFT is wonderful for easing traumas like this.

First, we started by tapping on the pain. When we began doing EFT, the SUDS level for her pain started at a six. After only one round of tapping, it went to a two. I asked her what bothered her most about the incident and she said it was being caught off guard. We tapped on this traumatic part, and her pain immediately went to a zero. Like most people new to experiencing EFT, she was quite amazed to have her pain and discomfort vanish so quickly and easily. We also did some tapping on “I should have known better.” This tapping helped release some of her perfectionism, fears, frustration and stress from the situation.

On a different note, my daughter work up the other morning with pain and tightness in the Achilles tendon of her left foot. She suggested we do EFT to get some relief. Her SUDS level was about an eight. After two rounds of EFT she was down to a zero also.

In both of these instances, the physical pain has not come back. As a culture, we’re so conditioned to believing the only way to relieve pain is chemically via over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Don’t believe EFT will work for pain relief. Discover for yourself by learning more about EFT or working with an experienced EFT practitioner.

I recently taught EFT to a group of people.

I recently taught EFT to a group of people. One of the most skeptical people in the audience was quite surprised to find after doing some tapping, his joint pain completely disappeared. He was amazed and did EFT by himself at home where he also got relief five or six times and then it stopped working. What happened? Typically it’s because tapping on a physical issue relieves the pain temporarily. It’s when you you resolve a core issue that you’ll find more powerful, long term results.

Last night the gentleman called me. He was having a lot of discomfort, particularly in his elbows. His doctor said that it was because of a side effect of a potent medication he was taking. The soft tissue was inflamed and swollen. When he bent his elbow, the angle or torque created the discomfort.

I asked him what his SUDS (Subjective Units of Distress) level was with the discomfort. He said it was at a three. It’s important to note that this is a subjective measure. For someone else, this person’s three could be a ten. So we started tapping a few rounds with a normal EFT setup statement:

Even though I have this swelling and discomfort in my left elbow, I deeply and completely accept myself.

We promptly got nowhere. No change whatsoever. So I asked him, “If there was an emotion connected to this discomfort what might it be.” With a perplexed look he said that he had no idea. So I asked him if his left elbow could speak what would it say it wanted.” Another blank look. Usually, when I do these things, I get good results. Not this time. I’m not attached to the outcome so it was time to play in a new direction.

Sometimes what happens in the body is literal. Joint problems can mean being stiff, inflexible. It can mean not wanting to deal with uncertainty or having a fear of change. I had a feeling to go with this so I did. We tapped on the following EFT setup statement.

Even though I have discomfort in my left elbow, my energy and my body easily flow with change.

This clicked and bingo, we got results immediately, going from three to one. I don’t like to stop there so instead of doing the EFT Shortcut method again, we went to the classic long version which includes using the finger tapping points, the gamut point, eye movements, etc. After one more round of tapping, he was at a zero and very happy about it. When he “tested” his left elbow, there was no discomfort and then he was surprised to find the same thing happened with his right elbow.

With EFT, you’ll often start with physical sensations to uncover what emotions may lie underneath. In this case, it was a fear of change. Gary Craig has said that you might have to keep trying different “doors” until one finally opens.
