He knows how to explain stress in language that's easy to understand. He&#8217;s a biologist specializing in neuro-endocrinology. <p>In the American culture we seem to revere stress and being busy. Many of us certainly don&#8217;t understand how stress seriously impacts our health. Stress overload does mental and physical damage. Some of the most common health problems, caused or worsened by stress are:</p>
<ul>
<li>    Cardiovascular disease and Hypertension</li>
<li>    Depression and anxiety</li>
<li>    Sexual dysfunction</li>
<li>    Fertility in women, irregular cycles</li>
<li>    Erectile dysfunction in men</li>
<li>    Frequent colds</li>
<li>    Sleeplessness and fatigue</li>
<li>    Trouble concentrating</li>
<li>    Memory loss</li>
<li>    Changes in appetite</li>
</ul>
<p>Robert Sapolsky has studied Baboons for over 30 years because he says that they are a good model for our Western culture. Like human beings, Baboons live in a hierarchical society. They have troops varying from between five to 250 animals. His research over the years has indicated that by conducting blood tests, the baboons at the top of the rung has less stress that those below. The dominant, aggressive male baboons have less stress chemicals in their bodies. He found that the most stress occurred in the Baboons at the lower end of the hierarchy.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s even more fascinating in the documentary is that they also did research on measuring stress with people in the British Civil Service and the same thing held true. There was less stress higher up and more at the bottom. I highly recommend the Documentary. You can see a short clip of it here.</p>

<p>Robert Sapolsky certainly has a sense of humor because he  says that he&#8217;s a type A personality and is stressed out from working 80 hours a week. And, he says that we need to find ways to release stress overload on a daily basis. Whether it&#8217;s meditating, exercising, or doing EFT, we need to have an ongoing positive habit for reducing stress. It&#8217;s essential for our health and well-being.</p>

<p>If you don’t search the right way, you might not find it. Do this. On your iPhone, touch the App Store icon. Then select “Search” from the menu on the bottom. After the application loads, you’ll touch, <strong>Ready to Tap</strong>. You’ll have the choice to <strong>Tap</strong> or <strong>Play</strong>. The Play button is a coming attraction. So touch <strong>Tap</strong>. Choose one of four photon buddies. There are two males and two females. The buddy you select will match up with a male or female voice teacher.</p>
<p>You’ll have three choices of things to tap on:  1) I’m Upset  2) Stress 3) Anger. The only one that’s currently available is number one, <strong>I’m Upset</strong>. No problem, because once you learn how to do tapping, you can use the same method to relieve stress, anger and anything emotional or physical that bothers you. Tap on <strong>I’m Upset</strong>. You’ll start getting instructions. The application teaches you tapping by walking you through step-by-step. You have the choice of learning using text, voice or both.</p>
<p>You start by thinking of a specific issue to tap on and then use the <strong>Moodbar</strong> to measure the intensity. At any time you can zoom to see the tapping points by touching <strong>Meridian</strong> at the bottom of the screen. Also, you can go at your own pace by touching the <strong>Pause</strong> button. When a rhythmic thumping sound comes on, you’ll probably want to turn it off by touching <strong>Music</strong>.</p>
<p><em><a href="http://www.myphotonbuddy.com/">TAP My Photon Buddy</a></em> isn’t perfect yet. Although it has a few quirks, it’s still a handy application to carry around with you. It’s certainly a conversation starter. People associate apps on the iPhone as being cool. Kids of all ages will enjoy this app. If you’ve got an iPhone, get it. Apple has sold millions and millions of iPhones.I appreciate Joe’s vision, initiative, innovation, and investment to bring this app to the iPhone platform to help get tapping out to the general public.</p>

<p>You’ll download the tracks. The first track has instructions on how to do the process. It’s important that you listen to this track to get familiar with the process <em>before</em> you use it. The second track is the primary PSTEC audio file. There are other optional tracks that you may rarely need to use.</p>
<p>As you listen to the track and hear different cues, you’ll tap with the right hand, left hand or both hands. Unlike EFT, you’ll tap with your fingers on whatever <i>surface</i> they’re resting. Here are some ways you can use it. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I’ve got some news that may surprise you. Most of us learned that the first three years of a child’s life are critical in brain development. Maybe you bought some music by Mozart or Beethoven for your baby. Or you bought special toys to help your child learn, grow and develop. Well, guess what? You may need to do the same for your rebellious teenager. We&#8217;re discovering that it’s not just a hormonal thing that affects teen behavior.</p>
<p>If you think your teenager’s brain is an adult brain, it isn’t. The frontal cortex is developing. Without the neural structure in place, adolescents can’t think things through like adults. Reasoning and judgment are still developing well into the early to mid 20s. Teens may be physically mature, but not emotionally. Alan Delamater, a professor of pediatrics and psychology at the University of Miami’s Center for Child Development says, “They may have an adult-like body, but inside these teenagers are kids.” </p>
<p>According to a study reported by Dr. Sarah-Jayne Blakemore at the University College London, the adolescent brain undergoes massive changes and does not reach maturity until the later years. Refer to the BBC News article, <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/5327550.stm"><em>Seeing the Teenager in the Brain</em></a><em>.</em> In <em><a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/12/02/health/main3564047.shtml?source=related_story">Teens&#8217; Brains Key to Their Impulsiveness</a></em>, Dr. Laurence Steinberg says, the teenage brain is like a car with a good accelerator but a weak brake.</p>
<p>The good news is that teenage brains are pliable. Brain research points out that it’s important to lay the right neural pathways during the teen years in “exercising” teenage brains by developing good habits such as studying and exploring, art, music, and sports -– being active instead of passive. </p>
<p>So where does EFT come into play for you? Well, it would be great if your teen embraced EFT and used it for relieving issues at home and school. More than likely though, your teenager will rebel against the suggestion. So the best use of EFT is for yourself. Tap away. Mix a good dose of EFT and patience in dealing with frustrations from your teenager at home. After all, whether they’re three years old or thirteen, blame it on their developing brains.</p>

<p><span id="more-133"></span>In one of Gary Craig&#8217;s videos, <a href="http://www.eyeexercises.com/">Dr. Larry Jebrock</a> provides over two hours of captivating information, including using EFT for vision issues. A behavioral optometrist, he talks about  ways  emotions can affect our vision and how we can improve our vision by using EFT. He says there&#8217;s a lot of unconsciousness when it comes to people&#8217;s eyes. Dr. Jebrock uses EFT every day himself and with his patients. Besides talking about common vision problems, a few of the interesting things he discusses are <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinhole_glasses">pinhole glasses</a>, microstimulation glasses, and <a href="http://www.winwenger.com/imstream.htm">image-streaming</a>. In a friendly, engaging style, he also teaches the audience several vision exercises. You can do them along with the video.</p>
<p>Switching gears, not long ago, EFT Master Practitioner Carol Look did an interesting eight-week study in 2006 with 100 people providing written instructions for using EFT on a variety of emotional and vision issues. <p>In 1999, the American Vision Institute created a product called the <em>See Clearly Method</em>, which a company known as Vision Improvement Technologies marketed from 1999 to 2006. As mentioned, the SCM kits sold for several hundred dollars. Because of legal issues, VIT has since gone out of business. However, the American Vision Institute now offers a <a href="http://www.visiontherapy.net/RESEARCH%20MASTER.pdf">free report.</a></p>

<p>Do this. Get the free <a href="http://eftuniverse.com/index.php?option=com_subscribe&amp;Itemid=17"><em>Get Started Package</em></a>. Study the information. Try EFT several times on different issues. If it works for you, great. Find out more about it. If not, just like changing your television station, move on and try something else. Do you really need scientific proof or an approval before you attempt something as safe and gentle as EFT? Science has its own imperfections. There is a lot of &#8220;junk science.&#8221; This is science that&#8217;s slanted depending on the motivations of those paying for the studies. After all, how many scientific studies have we seen over the years proving that drinking coffee is bad for your health. And these have been countered by other studies which <span style="text-decoration: underline;">prove</span> that drinking coffee is not harmful. Conflicting reports are plentiful.</p>
<p>A few Websites that you may find of interest perusing are <a href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/">Science Daily</a>, <a href="http://www.junkscience.com/">Junk Science</a> and <a href="http://www.quackwatch.org/">QuackWatch</a>. Although I can respect the latter for &#8220;looking out for us&#8221; because there are charlatans out there, I know many people doing EFT that are highly ethical and have good intentions. I&#8217;m skeptical about some of the information QuackWatch posts. In particular, I found it interesting that they listed <a href="http://www.emdria.org/">EMDR</a> (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuro-linguistic_programming">NLP</a> (Neurolinguistic Programming) as mental help procedures to avoid. EMDR has become an accepted treatment by many organizations. NLP has been around over 30 years. Like any product or service you buy, if it didn&#8217;t work, it certainly wouldn&#8217;t have lasted this long. Further, the information posted is two years old dating back to 2004.</p>
<p>In conclusion, try my <span style="text-decoration: underline;">unscientific</span> experiment. Discover for yourself. We don&#8217;t know all that there is to know. Their will always be new frontiers to explore. Science can&#8217;t explain everything because scientists are limited by their own beliefs and conditioning. And, there are other ways of knowing besides logic and scientific proof. You might like this story by Cynthia Sue Larson about <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://realityshifters.com/pages/articles/limitsoflogic.html">the Limits of Logic</a>. As she says, there are deeper ways of knowing.</p>
<p>Put EFT to your test and decide for yourself. Ultimately, you&#8217;ve got to go with what works for you. Personally, I&#8217;m not going to wait years for scientific studies to tell me that EFT is &#8220;okay and approved.&#8221; If I get results for me, fine. As a friend of mine says, &#8220;Do whatever floats your boat.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="author" style="font-style: italic;"><strong>Strong Correlation Found between EFT</strong></h2>
<h2 class="author" style="font-style: italic;"><strong>and Dr. Emoto&#8217;s Work with Water</strong></h2>

<p>I have been asking myself could there be more to the vibrational impact of EFT on the body than we realise? For instance, how does the tapping impact on the body outside the energy system? As an adult body is about 70% water it seemed to be appropriate to begin my research on this. This focus led me to the fascinating work with water by internationally renowned Japanese scientist Dr Masaru Emoto and the correlation between his principles and those of EFT.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>Of particular relevance to EFT is that after many years of research Dr Emoto has demonstrated that molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words and feelings.  Since the earth and humans are composed mainly of water his message can be seen as one for personal health, global environmental renewal, and a practical plan for the creation of peace that starts with each of us. Dr Emoto regards his work as a exploration of how the cosmos works.  Water has taught him about the ‘delicacy of the human soul and the impact that “love and gratitude” can have on the world.’</p>
<p>Dr Emoto has visually recorded the impact of different vibrations on water by freezing it and by photographing the resulting crystal formations.  Some of his photographs are shown in his books “The Hidden Messages in Water” and The True Power of Water.”</p>
<p>The following principles are basic to Dr Emoto’s work and of relevance for EFT.</p>
<ol>
<li>Water is the life force and it is sensitive to all vibration.</li>
<li>The entire universe is vibrating and everything has a unique frequency (sound).</li>
<li>The Universe is naturally in balance and harmony, and discord has a destructive vibration.</li>
<li>The words “love” and “gratitude” form the fundamental principles of the laws of nature and also of the phenomenon of life.</li>
</ol>
<p>Every living cell requires water and we are dependant on the fluid flow in all the different systems in our bodies including the body&#8217;s electrical system. Dehydration, will cause the energy system to be sluggish or severely repressed and this is one of the recognised causes of Psychological Reversal (PR) in EFT. For this reason, and also because people can become very thirsty while doing EFT, it is necessary to drink water during the session.  Correct hydration is also essential for accuracy with muscle testing.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto discovered a close correlation between peoples’ emotions and affected body parts.  Of particular interest to EFT is that he found that excess fear resonated with the kidneys.  The kidneys maintain the constancy of fluids to our internal environment.  They filter fluid from the bloodstream and are the major excretory organs.  His findings concur with the Five Elements Cycle in Chinese medicine in which the kidneys are affected by the negative emotion of fear.  In EFT the collarbone point is also the Kidney 27 point in acupuncture. I have found this to be a very powerful point in EFT which is not surprising given its connection to the kidneys, water and the emotion of fear.</p>
<p>Einstein’s Theory of Relativity explains that physical matter including the human body is made of energy at the sub-atomic level.  The principle is universally accepted in the scientific world and the Science of Quantum Mechanics generally recognises that substance is nothing more than vibration. EFT practitioners have been successfully applying this principle for years and the clinical results prove it.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto calls this universal vibration <em>hado</em> which means “all the subtle energy that exists in the Universe.”  Water is sensitive to <em>hado </em>and according to Dr Emoto, water acts as a mirror of the vibrations created in the world.  This energy can be positive or negative.</p>
<p>Humans are each vibrating with their own unique frequency and have the sensory skills necessary to feel the vibrations of others.  My EFT experiences have enabled me to develop my skills in this regard.  As a result, I now often intuitively tune into the subtle as well as the stronger more obvious emotions that my clients experience during EFT sessions with them.</p>
<p>I also feel a range of physical sensations that they too experience during the sessions.  As our frequencies change, we literally resonate with one another.  I believe this is because I tap together with the client and often speak the same or relevant words for the problems on which we are focussed. Gary has discussed this effect in his Borrowing Benefits<br />
 concept.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>Another phenomenon that I have experienced with EFT is that many of my clients tell me that after doing the technique they have unexpectedly been able to relate better to people with whom they previously had conflict.  These were not necessarily people that they consciously addressed using EFT.  So even though the person themselves has not necessarily made a conscious effort to “make peace” with another, their vibration had so changed after the EFT that they experienced greater resonance with the other’s energy.  I believe that it is highly likely that this change has occurred as a result of tapping into the meridian system plus changes in the vibration of water in the body.<strong><em> </em></strong></p>
<p>Dr Emoto has developed a device that measures various vibrations of the body at cellular level.  He has expanded its use to measuring <em>hado</em> in his development of <em>hado</em> medicine for which the fundamental principles are vibration and resonance.  According to Dr Emoto, “When the cellular vibrations in different parts of the body are disturbed due to various reasons, our body can make a wrong turn.  When this situation occurs, a new external vibration can be given to the disturbed cell so as to resonate with it, thus, its intrinsic vibration is restored.”</p>
<p>The description of how these principles work aligns very closely to the Psychological Reversal phenomenon in EFT.  This is caused by self-sabotaging, negative thinking which often occurs subconsciously and is therefore outside our awareness.  It is a polarity reversal in the body’s energy system –the energy is there but it doesn’t flow correctly.  It is generally present when a person confuses words, numbers and/or concepts and when they are thinking negatively, and acting irrationally and irritably when they are doing EFT.</p>
<p>In EFT, the correction for Psychological Reversal is made by tapping (ie introducing new external vibration) and making a Setup statement which acknowledges the problem (negative words) and creates self acceptance despite the problem being present (positive words).  This changes the vibration in the meridian system, and most likely in the water in the body as well.</p>
<p>Of great significance to EFT is Dr Emoto’s contention that water carries information both negative and positive to all the cells in the body, coupled with his visual recording of water’s ability to understand the meaning of words.</p>
<p>He discovered that the vibration from negative words has the power to destroy, whereas, the vibration of the “good” words has a positive effect<strong>. </strong> The words may either be written or spoken.  He considers that all the vibrations both good and bad impact on water in the body. This has a profound impact on our health and general attitude and demeanour.</p>
<p>Tapping into the meridian system with EFT while stating negative and positive words also has a profound effect.  This is because when a disruption of the energy system is calmed and relieved, the person no longer experiences pain and/or or negative emotions from the original memory or thought, as the associated feeling has been “disconnected” according to<a href="http://inroads.adeft.hop.clickbank.net/"> Sylvia Hartmann</a>, the founder of EmoTrance.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto also discovered that water exposed to the written words “love and gratitude” produced the most beautiful and perfect of all the crystals that he recorded.  He contends that these words form the fundamental principles of the laws of nature and the phenomenon of life.  He found that while “love” has healing powers on its own, the words “love and gratitude” together form immunity in healing.  EFT incorporates the words “love” and “accept” into the Setup statement. Even though acceptance of oneself is a type of gratitude it could be even more beneficial, given Dr Emoto’s research, to incorporate the word “gratitude” and other similar words expressing thanks when doing EFT.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto states that words spoken with determination have strong powers.  He was able to observe this in 1999 when 350 people assembled to pray for the cleansing of Lake Biwa in Japan.  The algae that normally formed in the lake did not appear that year.  He used Einstein’s equation of E=MC² to explain the phenomenon of the healing of the lake. He considers that the “C” can equate to “consciousness” as well as to the speed of light which is the normal interpretation.  In this case “M” could equal the number of people consciously focussed.  This concept is not new to EFT practitioners who have experienced Gary’s Borrowing Benefits phenomenon, as referred to earlier.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>Everyone knows that negative emotions and feelings are a part of us.  It is also quite obvious that with an attitude of positive thinking our health often improves.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto believes that we can correct our <em>hado</em> by using the opposite word.  So for example, “hate” has a opposing frequency to “gratitude”, “anger” to “kindness”, “fear” to “courage”, “anxiety” to “peace of mind”, “pressure” to “presence of mind” and so forth.<strong> </strong> The EFT work by <a href="http://www.paceaffiliates.com/aw.aspx?A=19&amp;Task=Click">Patricia Carrington</a> on <a href="http://www.paceaffiliates.com/aw.aspx?B=1&amp;A=19&amp;Task=Click&amp;TargetURL=http%3a%2f%2fstore.masteringeft.com%2findex.asp%3fPageAction%3dVIEWCATS%26Category%3d7">choices</a> beautifully exemplifies the efficacy of this.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>Dr Emoto’s research has also demonstrated that while words have their own unique vibrational frequencies these can be effected by the vibrations of the person speaking or writing the words.  The implications for EFT centre on the importance of using the individual’s own words rather than only those of the therapist when tapping, unless of course there is agreement on the words.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>The following is another of Dr Emoto’s findings that is worth developing for EFT.  He found that water responds to intent so we can say positive prayers to water which gains the power to potentially answer our prayers.  He believes that we can send stronger <em>hado</em> to water by praying in the past tense rather than the future tense, as though the prayer has already been answered. According to Dr Emoto we can make our thoughts and intentions stronger by doing this.   He also believes that it is important to have a strong image of the desired result.  Loudly vocalising the words gives off a stronger <em>hado </em>than writing them on paper.  He suggests that a practical way to create your own <em>hado</em> water is by writing words on a piece of paper and sticking it to your water bottle with the words facing inwards.  Dr Emoto recommends drinking five glasses of this water per day.  If you don’t have a specific wish then he suggests using the words love and gratitude.</p>
<p>I decided to do a small practical experiment with four people and seven glasses of water to test some of Dr Emoto’s principles. The purpose of the experiment was to revise muscle testing in a workshop while testing whether written words could affect the taste of water. One person was muscle tested by three different people for glasses of water which were each exposed to one of seven words. These words were unseen by the person being tested and the testers, until after all the testing had been completed.</p>
<p>Results confirmed that water exposed to different words changed taste. When the person was muscle tested, “nice” tasting water tested strong and “not nice” tasting water tested weak. Three glasses tasted neutral. For these, the muscle response was very weak for water exposed to “ungrateful”, strong for “live” and very weak for “bad”.</p>
<p>The results were useful for finding issues to pursue with EFT.  For example the person in this experiment liked the taste of, and muscle tested very strong to water exposed to the word “die”. However, on two occasions she didn’t like the taste of the water exposed to the word “live” and she muscle tested weak on this.  When asked later how she felt about dying she answered that she was quite happy about the thought of it. By contrast, living was a challenge at the time because she was about to retire and was not sure about her financial future.</p>
<h3>Conclusion</h3>
<p>There is a strong correlation between Dr Emoto’s findings and EFT principles.</p>
<p>Dr Emoto’s pioneering research has provided sound evidence of the impact of thoughts, words and feelings on the body through the medium of water.</p>
<p>Whereas Dr Emoto’s work measures the impact at a personal and global level, EFT provides a therapeutic approach to influence and manage negative emotion at the individual level.  Thanks to Dr Emoto’s work, it is now possible to understand more about the wider therapeutic implications of tapping into the meridian system through EFT.</p>

<p>Other typical reactions besides yawning and sleepiness are &#8212; feeling relaxed, calm, giddy, sighing, or yes, even burping. They&#8217;re all just physical ways for our bodies to release blocks and allow more energy to flow. Back to yawning, there are a lot of reasons <a href="http://www.uc.edu/news/ebriefs/yawn.htm">why we yawn</a>. Although there are different theories, it&#8217;s still a real mystery. Scientists don&#8217;t know exactly the reasons behind <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yawn">yawning</a>. An older, popular theory was that our bodies needed <a href="http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/biology/b103/f03/web2/afritz.html">more oxygen</a>. This was later proven to be incorrect.</p>
<p>According to the <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&amp;db=PubMed&amp;list_uids=9551709&amp;dopt=Abstract">neuropharmacology of yawning</a>, yawning is under the control of several neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. In the article, <span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.howstuffworks.com/question572.htm">What Makes Us Yawn</a>, </span>it says that even reading this information about yawning may cause you to yawn. On the downside, excessive yawning can also be an indicator of health problems. Typically, I find that working with business clients, yawning is a very common relaxation response to releasing stress after doing EFT. So if you do a few rounds of EFT and find yourself yawning, sighing or burping, most likely you&#8217;ve got some positive energy changes going on &#8230; or perhaps you&#8217;d better have something different for lunch.</p>

David Wilson suggests using your computer to <span style="font-style: italic;">read the story to you while you tap</span>. That way, you only need to concentrate on the tapping.</p>
<p>I actually use &#8220;text-to-speech&#8221; quite often for proofreading. Hearing what you&#8217;ve written, you&#8217;ll catch errors. Here&#8217;s how you can use audio for computer assisted tapping.Check to be sure that your computer has &#8220;text-to-speech&#8221; capability. Windows XP includes does. (You get a voice named Sam.) Here&#8217;s how to <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306902">configure this capability in Windows XP or Vista</a>. If you have a different computer/software, check the manufacturer&#8217;s Website. By the way, did you know that newer versions of the free <a href="http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html">Adobe Acrobat Reader</a> have a &#8220;Read Aloud&#8221; feature? You can have the program read any PDF file.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;d like to play with the idea of text-to-speech, <a href="http://www.readthewords.com/">go here</a> and type in an EFT setup phrase such as, &#8220;Even though I have this problem, I deeply and completely accept myself.&#8221; You can hear it in English, French, Spanish or German with male or female voices.</p>
<p>What about your own &#8220;problems or issues&#8221; where you want to use EFT? Here&#8217;s where I recommend recording your setup phrases in your <span style="font-style: italic;">own voice</span>. If you have a computer microphone, you can do this. Or use any recording device. Tapping while you hear your own voice is quite powerful.</p>

<p>Last month I was reading an EFT article by Peggy Lawson, titled, <em>Success by Using EFT While Reading our Newsletter articles</em>.</p>
<p>She says: &#8220;I (Peggy) make myself a cup of tea and sit down and then tap on each one of the issues that every author is portraying in their stories.&#8221;</p>
<p>I trust this tip below will help you. It&#8217;s intended to augment (enlarge, increase, intensify) what Peggy was saying.</p>
<p>Instead of visually reading the EFT text and tapping &#8212; try this! &#8212; Let your computer read the text to you while you tap. This frees you of visually reading every word and now you get to have &#8220;someone&#8221; read the EFT story to you.</p>
<p>I trust this tip will allow you to more easily focus on your thoughts and your feelings.</p>
<p>Feelings like: body sensation feelings and/or emotional feelings and/or an instantaneous knowing feeling.</p>
<p>How? Install a &#8220;Text-to-Speech&#8221; computer program. Use a Search Engine to find a program you like.</p>
<p>I trust this method of having the computer read the text to you helps you because you can absorb it more readily. Trusting you can assimilate the message better because you hear the text and you can then choose to look at the text. So you have an opportunity to be &#8220;in touch&#8221;.</p>
<p>Side Note: You can also use a Text-to-Speech program as your 24 hour a day &#8220;Proof&#8221; reader for your emails you wish to send or your resumes, manuals, etc&#8230; A great way to find logic errors in what you have typed because grammar checkers &amp; spell checkers can only find syntax errors. Example: &#8220;See you on Saturday.&#8221; When you really wanted to say: &#8220;See you on Sunday.&#8221;</p>

Was it because they were so physically close and felt so comfortable being in each other&#8217;s personal space? How important is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_space">personal space</a> in doing EFT?</p>
<p>It gets down to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxemics">proxemics</a> which is the study of the cultural, behavioral, and sociological aspects of spatial distances between individuals. Here&#8217;s an interesting article about <a href="http://www.worsleyschool.net/socialarts/personal/space.html">your personal space</a>. Personal space differs for each person, culture and situation. For an average Westerner, some estimates place it at:</p>
<ul>
<li>About two feet (27.3 in., 70 cm) in front</li>
<li>A foot and a quarter (15.6 in., 40 cm) behind</li>
<li>Around two feet (23.4 in., 60 cm) on either side</li>
</ul>

<p>In situations where you&#8217;re teaching someone to do EFT or tapping jointly on an issue, does personal space matter? It certainly does in the sense that you want the other person to feel rapport, trust and comfort. And, does the &#8220;right&#8221; personal space affect the outcome of doing EFT? It surely seems that it does because there is something else going on&#8211;the transmitting and receiving of electromagnetic energy.</p>
<p>According to some fascinating research at the <a href="http://www.heartmath.org/">Institute of HeartMath</a>, which has been conducting research on neurocardiology and neurophysiology for over a decade, the electromagnetic field of your heart extends outside of your body. An electromagnetic signal produced by your heart is registered in the brain waves of people around you. While the field of your brain extends just a few inches from the brain, the heart&#8217;s field has been measured as far away as 10 feet. The heart&#8217;s magnetic field is about 5,000 times stronger than the brain&#8217;s field. You are creating waves as you feel different emotions and those waves influence the other people in proximity to you. Again, this is research from scientists.</p>
<p>In the Institute&#8217;s research paper, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Electricity of Touch: Detection and Measurement of Cardiac Energy Exchange Between People</span><span class="style21"><span class="style24">, it discusses </span></span>examples from a number of experiments demonstrating that when individuals touch or are in proximity, one person&#8217;s electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is registered in the other person&#8217;s electroencephalogram (EEG) and elsewhere on the other person&#8217;s bod<span style="font-style: italic;">y</span>. What&#8217;s especially significant to me is that <span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">t</span></span><span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">he experiments represent an initial attempt to identify and objectively measure an exchange of energy between individuals</span>.</p>
<p>&#8216;m curious how the distance between people might affect the &#8220;signal strength&#8221; of transmitting and receiving of energy exchanges, especially when people have been successful doing surrogate tapping and EFT over long distances. There may be other factors in effect.</p>
<p>Generally, what is the best distance for doing EFT and honoring each other&#8217;s personal space? Go closer and ask the other person to tell you when the distance feels just right. In addition, it seems to me that in doing EFT with someone, it&#8217;s more than having the &#8220;right&#8221; distance of personal space. It&#8217;s also important to have heart or emotional coherence. Have the intention to really be tuned in to the other person.</p>
<p>As organizations like HeartMath do more scientific research, it gives credence to techniques like EFT and other energy therapies. While intuitively and experientially people who try EFT know it works, other people rely more on complementary research for &#8220;proof.&#8221; And that&#8217;s good too.</p>
