<p>EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) evolved from TFT and uses similar principles but with TFT students need to learn 10 or 15 different tapping routines called algorithms. Each algorithm covers a specific issue such as trauma, phobias, depression, etc . Anything not covered by those individual routines requires a diagnostic process. EFT simplifies things by only using <em>one</em> comprehensive tapping routine to cover <em>all</em> issues &#8212; not just 10 or 15 &#8212; and doesn&#8217;t require a diagnosis.</p>

My youngest daughter was dealing with the challenges of high school — all the studying, tests, peer pressure, and difficulties of growing up. At the same time, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. These factors jolted me into being motivated to find alternatives to prescription drugs. That’s when I was fortunate to find EFT. Plus, I came up with an unusual idea that helped lift their spirits.</p>
<p>Although I was busy traveling during the week, I wanted a way to show I was thinking about my daughter and father. I focused on how I might show I cared about their well-being. As an action minded person, I decided to create a book of affirming thoughts and empowering questions. It was called <em><a href="http://www.mindsigns.com">MindSigns Personal Billboards</a></em>. <a href="http://www.mindsigns.com">MindSigns</a> was published as a large book of affirmation signs people could tear out and post in visible places around the house to stay in a positive state of mind. At the time, the book was printed in black-and-white because the printing technology then was too expensive to do in full color. That’s all changed.</p>
<p>About six months ago, I woke up one morning and decided to turn <a href="http://www.mindsigns.com">MindSigns</a> into full color greeting cards. The idea was to offer people a way to encourage someone they care about by sending an affordable gift not once but up to 52 times a year, <em>automatically</em>. After doing our test marketing, the product is now available. We’ve had a very enthusiastic response. Doc Childre, founder of the <a href="http://tinyurl.com/EFTzoneHeartMath">Institute of HeartMath</a>, has written the <a href="http://www.heartmath.org/destresskit"><em>De-Stress Kit for the Changing Time</em>s</a>, a free e-booklet that provides a few simple practices to help you intercept and manage stress during this period of challenge and uncertainty. <p>This 24 page e-booklet is full of wisdom in dealing with the change and uncertainly we&#8217;re all experiencing today. On page 15, he suggests an exercise to tell yourself some phrases. I recommend doing EFT tapping while saying the following:</p>
<blockquote><p>I understand why I’m living in fear and anxiety, but it’s draining my energy, putting my health at risk and interfering with clear decision-making.</p>

<blockquote><p>I’m tired of being overshadowed by fear and I’m ready to shift to an attitude that’s easier on my nervous system, my health, and those around me.</p>
</blockquote>
<blockquote><p>I’m aware that fear has repressed my spirit and it hasn’t made anything change for the better.</p>

<blockquote><p>I don’t expect to eliminate all my fears and projections, but I intend now to at least practice reducing my fear to a more balanced attitude of practical caution and discernment.</p>

We'll magnetize a fear and lack vibration. What can you do? Here are some things that may help.]]></description>

<p>Although, you can&#8217;t control outside conditions, you can control how you respond to and feel about them. Instead of reacting with fear, trepidation or panic, choose to keep a pulse on things, take wise actions and avoid emotional distress. Be conscious of your inside conditions and use tools like EFT to release any negative emotions.</p>

<p>And, use EFT to address whatever you&#8217;re feeling. Create your own setup phrases based on specifically what <u>you&#8217;re</u> feeling. For example:</p>
<blockquote><p>Even though I&#8217;m worried about financial events, I choose to remain calm in my actions.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Even though I&#8217;m afraid of what might happen, I choose to feel comfortable in trusting myself to know what to do.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Even though I&#8217;m afraid of what might happen to my finances, I choose to feel and know I&#8217;ll be all right.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Even though I&#8217;m afraid of what might happen to my money, I choose to focus on all of the other areas of abundance in my life.</p></blockquote>
<p>Everything is interconnected and woven together. Any change in the financial markets in America ripples into international markets. A downturn in the housing industry not only affects builders, roofers, electricians and plumbers, but car dealers, retailers and restaurants. One of the things about financial turmoil is that it makes us conscious of how interdependent we are worldwide.</p>
<p>The more calm and centered you stay, the more you help everyone else. And you have EFT to assist you in doing so.</p>

<p><strong>The EFT Forbidding Tactic</strong></p>
<p>by Dr. Patricia Carrington</p>
<p>We all know how effective EFT is when all is going well with it.  The correct EFT statement often makes all the difference in the way we react to a given situation or person.</p>
<p>However, each of us sometimes comes up against a stubborn inner voice that says, “I won&#8217;t!”  (or something equally forceful) to indicate its refusal to comply with our conscious, well-intentioned suggestion.  This “I won&#8217;t!&#8221; can take place even while the EFT self-acceptance phrase (“I deeply and completely accept myself&#8230;”) is being repeated, or it can undermine any EFT Choices phrase you might make.</p>
<p>Resistance like this can block progress in any self-help technique, but one of the most effective ways I know to disarm it is a method I call the Forbidding Tactic. This method makes use of a universal human trait.  If you tell somebody (anybody) not to do something <em>under any circumstances, </em>and if you make that command even more emphatic by telling them that they are not even to <em>think</em> about doing it, what happens?</p>
<p>We all know it is unwise to say the least to forbid someone to do something they want to do, unless we can enforce our command with certainty.  If something is forbidden and the command is not sufficiently enforced, it becomes a strong incentive to <em>do</em> the very thing that has been forbidden!</p>
<p>It is sometimes essential to forbid certain acts, of course.  For example, a law that forbids people to drive a car through a red light is essential for traffic safety and saves countless lives.  However it would be quite counterproductive to tell people not to run red lights if there was no way of enforcing this law.  An airtight system needs to be in place to enforce any essential law (such as “Do not drive a car through a red light” or “Do not kill a person”), or the law will backfire.</p>
<p>You may recall that in the Prohibition Era in the United States, prohibiting people from purchasing liquor only resulted in increased sales of alcohol rather than the other way around.  The use of liquor was more desirable when it was forbidden.  Similarly, when a book has been banned, we often see sales of that book shoot upwards.</p>
<p>A similar thing takes place when you are asked not to <em>think </em>of something<em> –– </em>say a white elephant for two minutes.  The first thing that happens is that a white elephant comes into your mind –– being forbidden to think of the white elephant has called it into your mind –– powerfully.  This happens because of our human tendency to go opposite to what we are told to avoid – to seek out the forbidden at all costs.</p>
<p>We can use this human tendency in a very constructive way, however, when we are “stuck” doing EFT.  It can help us to get through blocks caused by resistance to any of our goals.</p>
<p>Suppose, for example, that a person creates a Choices statement such as, “Even though I haven’t begun my new diet yet, I choose to do that easily and effectively.”  This can be very helpful if the person has a clear, unmixed motivation to start the diet.  However, if there is what Gary Craig calls a “tail ender” in operation –– a secret objection to dieting or the idea of starting the diet, –– then it might be necessary to address this tail ender directly by using what I call the Forbidding Tactic.</p>
<p>This tactic requires that you sternly <em>forbid</em> yourself to do what you think you want and are choosing to do.  In the case of the dieter mentioned above, the person would create for themselves a “Forbidding” phrase that might go as follows<strong>:</strong></p>
<blockquote><p>“Even though I haven’t begun my diet yet, I FORBID myself to start it!” , or a simpler phrase such as, “Even though I haven’t begun my diet yet, I WON’T LET MYSELF start it!”  Then they would tap on that phrase.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Different variations on this theme could be repeated at different tapping points.  For example, “I will <em>not let myself</em> start that diet!”, or “I will <em>not</em> <em>allow</em> myself to start that diet!”</p></blockquote>
<p>By forcing yourself to <em>not</em> do what you already resist doing anyway, you accomplish several things<strong>:</strong></p>
<p>You are HEARD by yourself in a very satisfying manner.  The fact is that everyone wants to have their own objections heard; they want to be able to voice loudly their own resistance to whatever they are told they absolutely <em>must</em> <em>do</em>.</p>
<p>The Forbidding Tactic encourages you to <em>shout</em> the words “I won’t!” as loudly as you wish, and as many times as you wish.  In doing this you legitimatize your objections and “take the wind out of their sails”, you have disarmed them because you now have a RIGHT to object.</p>
<p>Another thing this accomplishes is to powerfully motivate yourself to do exactly what you are telling yourself <em>not</em> to do, in this case, the “forbidden” act of starting your diet!</p>
<p>This works because none of us like to be pushed around by another person or by ourselves, we don’t like to be <em>told</em> what to do. Also, the subconscious does not “read” negative words such as “No” or “ Not” and so embeds a powerful command to DO the forbidden thing. Tell yourself sternly and fiercely enough NOT to do something, and you are effectively motivating yourself to do it.</p>
<p>I highly recommend this easy unlocking tactic for use any time that you find a stubborn tail-ender getting in the way of realizing your EFT goals.  It can work to bring you right where you really want to be.</p>

Happiness is a feeling and state of being. What ritual or method can you follow anytime you decide you want click into a happiness state of mind?</p>
<p>Does happiness depend on where you live? The &#8220;Happiometricians&#8221; or happiness researchers at the <a href="http://worlddatabaseofhappiness.eur.nl/">World Database of Happiness</a>, offer you all kinds of statistics that indicate which nations have the happiest people. Of course, none of this really matters because you&#8217;re what&#8217;s important. What &#8220;tricks&#8221; do you have at your command to flip your happy switch?</p>
<p>Is it a picture, a feeling, a sound, music or a smell that can do it instantly? Anchor something that gets you in this positive feeling place so you can consciously choose it whenever you want. If babies get you feeling happy, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk&amp;mode=related&amp;search=">play this video</a>. This baby&#8217;s laugher will have you smiling in 10 seconds. If animals get you into the state, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbRUr6bRNqo">view this video</a>. Want an uplifting gospel song that will get you there? The Edwin Hawkins Singers classic version of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCdyGCJffhE&amp;mode=related&amp;search=" style="font-style: italic">Oh, Happy Day</a> will do it. Or, you may prefer the classic from Louis Armstrong, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWGTzutT23c&amp;mode=related&amp;search="><span style="font-style: italic">It&#8217;s a Wonderful World</span></a>.</p>

<p>With EFT, I&#8217;ve found a great way to get an energy buzz is to do EFT on the tapping points while saying this phrase:</p>
<p style="font-weight: bold"><em>I release any ways that I&#8217;m feeling unhappy.<br />
I choose happiness right here, right now.</em></p>
<p>Try using this EFT setup phrase. You may be surprised at how well it works. Let me finish with a quote from American author Margaret Lee Runbeck who said, &#8220;Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling.&#8221;</p>

<p>Or, “The quietness of my breath as I let it slowly out.”</p>
<p>Or, “The way my reading chair cradles me.”</p>
<p>Then “tap in” this experience using EFT.  As you do this, the experience will become a valued personal resource that you can draw upon at any time.  If you like, you can jot down the phrases you create in a notebook or write them on cards to keep with you and take out and use any time you feel you need to get back to the original positive state.</p>

If you&#8217;re experiencing any physical pain, I highly recommend that you read this book. It could save you unnecessary suffering and financial costs, especially when you combine it with EFT.</p>
<p>Gary Craig, founder of EFT, says that physical conditions, including pain and serious dis-eases are often because of lingering, unresolved emotional issues at the core. In <a href="http://www.healingbackpain.com/">Dr. Sarno&#8217;s</a> book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0446675156/103-6157425-2182211?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=inroads-20&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0446675156"><span style="font-style: italic">The Mindbody Prescription</span></a>, he says that physical pain is the mind&#8217;s defense mechanism for diverting attention from strong, suppressed emotions such as rage from internal conflicts, the stresses and strains of daily life, and leftover anger from infancy and childhood.</p>
<p>To release and relieve physical pain, start with the mind and emotions instead of the body. It&#8217;s the mind&#8217;s &#8220;fear&#8221; of having strong feelings exploding into consciousness that creates the need for the mind to create body pain. To the mind, it&#8217;s &#8220;better&#8221; to have the pain than to consciously experience these repressed feelings. If you want to alleviate physical pain, start by shifting your focus from the physical arena to the psychological. Again, I&#8217;m just giving you the essence of his book. I highly recommend getting this book. I&#8217;ll be reading Dr. Sarno&#8217;s latest book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060851783/103-6157425-2182211?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=inroads-20&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0060851783"><span style="font-style: italic">The Divided Mind: The Epidemic of Mindbody Disorders</span></a>, on my return flight.</p>
<p>It struck me to combine what Dr. Sarno is saying with EFT. Here are some examples of EFT setup phrases you may want to do. Use these ideas to come up with your own &#8220;custom&#8221; EFT setup phrases or affirmations:</p>
<p><span style="font-style: italic">Even though I have this unconscious rage that manifests in my body as physical pain, I deeply and completely accept myself.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-style: italic">Even though I have these strong unconscious feelings that manifest as pain in my [area of body], I choose to release these emotions gently and instantly.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-style: italic">Even though I have this pain in my [area of body], I now choose to release the unconscious emotions that contribute to it.</span></p>
<p>Again, take the seed of what I&#8217;m saying and use your intuition as you see fit to discover ways you can use EFT to relieve any physical pain.
