Mother’s May

Mother’s Day will be here in a few weeks. It’s celebrated, most often in May, in more than 40 countries around the world. Perhaps there is nothing as strong as the bond between a mother and her child. If your mother is alive, you have time to get her a gift or write her a letter or poem. Tell her you love her in a way that is special to her. Or, if your relationship is strained, it may be an opportune time for forgiveness or reconciliation. EFT is a gentle tool for this.
Here are some poems people have written for their mothers. To get a feeling of what it’s like to lose a mother, especially from a woman’s perspective, be sure to readWithout My Mother by Denise Turney.
Because of natural disasters such as the Tsunami, wars, violence and health pandemics like AIDS, there are millions of motherless children around the world. Moreover, every minute a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth, resulting in at least a million children left motherless each year.
There’s an old song called, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child. It’s been recorded by dozens of artists, including Louis Armstrong, Hootie and the Blowfish, Richie Havens, Van Morrison, Sinead O’Connor, Peter Paul & Mary, and Sarah Vaughn.
The original song dates back to the era of slavery when it was common practice to sell children of slaves away from their parents. Here are the original American Negro Spiritual lyrics. It’s shocking to know that slavery still exists today. There are millions of children in slavery without mothers.
What about you? If you are a motherless child or adult, how might EFT help you? Are you a daughter without a mother? Carna Zacharias-Miller specializes in using EFT to help women with “Missing Mother Syndrome.” She is the author of The Missing Mother Handbook. Visit her Website at www.missingmother.com.
EFT is a peaceful way to help release feelings such as anger, forgiveness, grief, loss, sadness or shame. Although it’s a wonderful tool you can use yourself, I very much recommend contacting an EFT practitioner for help. Search by specialty for whatever issue is most fitting for you.
Let me close with these song lyrics:
Motherless children have a hard time.
Motherless children have such a hard time.
Motherless children have such a really hard time.
A long way from home.
For those of you, children or adults without mothers, we heartfully honor you during the month of May.
