EFT and Louise Hay’s New Thought Patterns

What you think — it turns out — matters. Many books talk about the mind-body connection. One book that’s been around for almost 30 years is Louise Hay’s book, Heal Your Body. A similar book she wrote and I highly recommend because it’s more comprehensive is, You Can Heal Your Life, the gift book edition. From a graphic design standpoint, it may be one of the most beautiful books you’ll ever own. It’s a pleasure to read. In both books, Louise talks about how limiting beliefs, thoughts and ideas are often the cause of illnesses.

Her premise is aligned with Science of Mind and its motto of the past, “Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life.” In the books, Louise Hay includes a matrix of hundreds of problems, their probable causes and new thought pattern affirmations. What if you took her ideas and combined them with EFT? Here’s an idea you might want to try.

For example, she says that aging problems are caused by “social beliefs, old thinking, fear of being oneself and rejection of the now.” The remedy is to change your thinking with the affirmation, I love and accept myself at every age. Each moment in life is perfect. Another example is that foot problems stem from “a fear of the future and not stepping forward in life.” With this the affirmation is, I move forward in life with joy and ease.

Lastly, rheumatism is “feeling victimized, a lack of love, chronic bitterness and resentment.” The healing affirmation is, I create my own experiences. As I love and approve of myself and others, my experiences get better and better.

The premise of EFT is that physical and emotional issues are caused by a disruption in our body’s energy system. There is a connection between our conscious and subconscious thoughts and blockages in our body. While focusing on the issue or problem and simultaneously tapping through a sequence of acupressure points, we release the blockage and get physical or emotional relief. Wouldn’t it be interesting to combine EFT with Louise Hay’s new thought pattern affirmations?

Let’s suppose you have a health or life issued covered in one of the books mentioned above. What if you took the new thought pattern affirmation she provides and used this as an EFT setup or tapping phrase as you went through each EFT point? What if you did this a couple of times every day for a week or a month? What if you tracked any changes in your health and how you were feeling? Experiment and discover for yourself.

As some background information on Louise Hay, decades ago she was diagnosed with vaginal cancer. With a background in healing, she believed that cancer was caused by a deep resentment that over time ate away at the body. It was important to change the mental and emotional pattern behind the dis-ease. She immediately went to work on clearing up old mental patterns of resentment. She consciously chose to feel forgiveness.

The other thing she did was to work with a nutritionist and detoxify her body. Within months, the process worked for her and later became the foundation for the books mentioned. Louise Hay was ahead of her time. Today, in addition to being cancer free, she is a respected author, teacher and speaker.

As a publisher, she is the founder of Hay House, an international publisher of self-improvement, health and healing, and spiritual books with some of the most well known authors. Louise Hay also established the Hay Foundation, a non-profit foundation supporting diverse charitable organizations.
