Writer’s Bach

Apr 01, 05 Writer’s Bach

As I write thislet me start by saying. Ever get writer’s block? Whether you’re writing a book, screenplay, business report or letter, suddenly your mind goes blank. You stare at your computer screen. Or your pen just parks itself on the pad of paper. Instead of words flowing like they’re pouring out of a faucet, they drip out drop by drop. What can you do? There are emotional reasons for writer’s block. Usually, you’re subconsciously resisting something. EFT can be an excellent solution for overcoming writer’s block. Let’s start by loosening things up with some music from Bach.

Music will help you relax. Go with Johann Sebastian Bach. I like Bach: Suites for Solo Cello and Bach: Concertos. For a couple of fun versions, there’s Switched on Bach, and Switched on Bach II. If you’re a classical purist, ignore my suggestions and check out these lists: Sublime Bach Recordings and Highly Recommended Bach recordings.

Now that you’re in a relaxed mood and state of mind, here’s a key question. What’s the subconscious positive intention behind your writer’s block? Ask the question internally. Sit back and listen to your intuition for the answer. Then use EFT to tap on that.

Here’s an example. A fellow had a pattern of hitting writer’s block right after he finished writing a book. He discovered the reason he got writer’s block was that subconsciously he didn’t want to do the marketing and promotion for the book. Voila, that was the positive intention behind his writer’s block.

He might start out tapping on:

Even though I don’t want to do the marketing and promotion for my book …
Even though I resist doing the marketing and promotion for my book …

Then he would dig deeper and explore the resistance to tap on other things that might bubble up.

Here are some EFT setup statements you may want to start with for writer’s block:

Even though I’m resisting writing …
Even though for some reason I’m not aware of, I’m resisting writing …
Even though I feel stuck …
Even though I don’t know how to get started writing …
Event though I don’t know how to get my writing going again …
Even though the thoughts and words aren’t coming to me easily …
Even though I don’t know how to write well …
Even though I don’t want to be embarrassed …
Even though I don’t want to make a mistake …

… I deeply and completely accept myself.
… I choose to express myself freely and with great ease.

Do EFT and you may be quite surprised with what comes up.

Here are some other ideas for writer’s block. There’s a Writer’s Block CD based on binaural beats technology. As far as software, if you can find Ideafisher, it’s a thinking, writing and strategizing tool. It uses associative thinking with over 65,000 unique words, phrases, colloquialisms and thoughts. There’s a Creative Writing Module that has over 400 “writer-centric” questions. What if you’re simply stuck writing a letter? Check out WriteExpress for products and services.

Lastly, there’s another Bach solution for writer’s block. In fact, it’s good for emotional and physical malaises. It’s called Bach Flower Remedies. When a person has writer’s block, they’re in a negative state of mind or feelings. In the 1930s, visionary physician Dr. Edwin Bach discovered 38 different flower essences (energies) designed to put a person back into harmony with their thoughts, feelings and physical self.

In his book, Five Minute Phobia Cure, Dr. Roger Callahan mentions using Bach’s Rescue Remedy for helping with “psychological reversal.” It would be interesting to find out how other Bach flower remedies work combined with EFT.

Just
like EFT, a premise of Dr. Bach’s was not fighting or resisting a condition. Acknowledge its existence without judgement. That’s essentially what we’re doing with the EFT setup statement. To learn more about Bach remedies, see the Website Bach Flower Research Program. You may be quite fascinated with what you discover.

Okay, time to close this article. Hmmm. I wonder what to write …
